We are a very active social division (spouses included in all our events/activities)
We meet at a different venue throughout our area each month.
Highlights: Annual BBQ ,Corn Boil/Roast and Christmas dinner.
Activities:
Attend member funerals, as requested.
Participate in Remembrance Day Services.
Kingston RCMP Detachment area annual gravesite inspections.
Provide assistance to the Kingston RCMP Detachment upon request.
Other uniform events, as requested.
Members are active volunteers in their personal residential/communities.
NWMP History:
Sir John A. MacDonald, Prime Minister of Canada was resident in Kingston, ON
when Parliament of Canada passed an Act to establish the NWMP May 23rd 1873.
Prime Minister MacDonald appointed military inspector/head of the School of Gunnery Kingston, ON
George Arthur French the first permanent Commissioner of the NWMP 18 OCT 1873.
Commissioner French immediately made preparation for the historical ‘March West’ in 1874.
It is rumoured locally that the Canadian Military still have an open account with the NWMP for not paying for, horses, cannons and other supplies that were obtained from them in preparation for the march west.
Descendants of Commissioner French still reside in the Kingston area and possess items that belonged to Commissioner French.
