We welcome new additions to the Division Executive: Bob JEFFERY, Louise LAVOIE, Pierre BELANGER, and new Committee Chairs Kevin MOLE, Dave COCHRANE, and Doug MacDONALD.

I thank President Mike Séguin, all past Executive Members and Committee Chairs who devoted their valuable time to the success of the Division by providing support to the membership and by organizing activities. A particular thank you to Past President Graham MUIR, who recruited a fine group of members who will contribute greatly to our future initiatives. I am personally encouraged by this strong team and we will be counting on the support and volunteer time of all members to further our goals.

My perspective of the RCMP Veterans’ Association is that it is not an extension of our service but it is an extension of our interests whereby our skill sets and experience attained throughout our service can benefit our Veterans and our communities.

It is incumbent on us, the Veterans, to demonstrate leadership in these challenging times in order to assist in maintaining the legacy of the Force and the pride we all shared when we first joined the organization.

I look forward to working with you to ensure our continued success in making the Division relevant to each member and to the RCMP employees who will be retiring and joining the Division. To do so, we will review how we conduct our business operations to ensure that we maintain the social value of our interactions. As we develop the plans for our upcoming events, we will ensure to seek your input on how best we can enhance them to attracting members of various generations.

Tout le monde est en train de profiter d’un hiver typique d’Ottawa ou de se prélasser au soleil dans le sud.

Ceux et celles d’entre nous qui sont resté(e)s dans la capitale nationale ont eu la chance de profiter d’une belle réception de Noël qui a eu lieu au Mess du Quartier général de la GRC. Nous avons débuté 2018 en pleine forme lors de la réception du Jour de l’an à laquelle participaient de nombreux membres actifs, incluant plusieurs membres de l’État-major supérieur, un grand nombre de vétérans ainsi que des proches.

Nous souhaitons la bienvenue aux nouveaux membres de l’exécutif de la division d’Ottawa : Bob JEFFERY, Louise LAVOIE, Pierre BELANGER, et aux nouveaux présidents de comité : Kevin MOLE, Dave COCHRANE, et Doug MacDONALD.

Je tiens à remercier Mike SÉGUIN, tou(te)s les membres l’exécutif et les président(e)s des comités qui ont consacré leur précieux temps à assurer la réussite de la division d’Ottawa en apportant un soutien aux membres et en organisant des activités. Un merci particulier au Président sortant Graham MUIR qui a recruté un excellent groupe de membres qui contribueront grandement à nos futures initiatives. Je suis personnellement encouragé par cette solide équipe et nous compterons sur le soutien et les heures de bénévolat de tous les membres afin d’atteindre nos objectifs.

Selon moi, l’Association des Vétérans de la GRC n’est pas une extension de notre service mais plutôt une extension de nos intérêts par lesquels nos compétences et notre expérience, acquises tout au long de notre service, peuvent bénéficier à nos vétérans et à nos communautés.

Il nous incombe, à nous les vétérans, de faire preuve de leadership durant cette période riche en défis afin de contribuer au maintien de l’héritage de la « Force » et de la fierté dont nous avons tous partagée lorsque nous avons joint l’organisation.

Je me réjouis à l’idée de travailler avec vous afin d’assurer la continuité de notre succès à render la division d’Ottawa pertinent pour chaque membre ainsi que pour les employés de la GRC qui prendront leur retraite. Pour ce faire, nous passerons en revue la façon dont nous menons nos activités professionnelles afin de nous assurer de maintenir la valeur sociale de nos interactions. Alors que nous élaborerons les plans pour nos événements futurs, nous nous assurerons de solliciter votre contribution sur la meilleure façon de les améliorer afin d’attirer des membres de diverses générations.

The Ottawa Division of the RCMP Veterans’ Association is comprised of retired regular members (police officers), civilian members and public servants who live mainly in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The Division is trending towards younger members and improved gender balance.

Consistent with the objectives of the Association, Ottawa Division is committed to acting in accordance with its “three C’s”…
Care: We take care of one another.
Connect: We reach out to the RCMP and the broader police community.
Community: We commit to make our community a better place.

Ottawa Division holds regular meetings in the RCMP National Headquarters General Mess, 73 Leikin Drive, K1A 0R2, on the second Tuesday of January, February, March, April, June, September, October and November. The May function is the annual dinner and dance to which the Division invites the commissioner and other dignitaries. The Division usually holds its annual general meeting on the same night as the regular meeting in March. The executive, which consists of the president, first vice-president, second vice-president, secretary and treasurer, meets every month except July and August.

The Division has by-laws, which it has revised periodically, with the last revision being in 1995. It does not have its own distinct lapel pin.

Through this website and “The Spirit” quarterly publication, Ottawa Division keeps its membership informed, entertained and up-to-date.
