Roy Beaton joined the RCMP on September 8, 1960. Following recruit training, he was posted to “F” Division. He was later posted to Alberta where he served at various locations including as Detachment Commander of Lloydminster (circa 1982 – 1987). He was later posted to RCMP NHQ, Ottawa where he served in the Aboriginal Policing Directorate. He returned to Alberta in 1990 as the O i/c Red Deer Sub-Division; the post from which he retired on April 5, 1995.
