In a statement today, Commissioner Bob Paulson made the following announcement: “I am advised that the Treasury Board has approved a pay package for Regular Members of the RCMP for 2015 and 2016.
In this package Regular Members will receive a 1.25% increase dated January 1, 2015 and 1.25% dated January 1, 2016 with an additional market adjustment allowance of 2.3% dated April 1, 2016. These increases total 4.8%.
We should note that this is a positive departure from the recent public sector wage settlement trend, although perhaps not what we had hoped for. It does however reflect and respect our unique operating environment and challenges while recognizing that a new labour relations regime is working its way through Parliament. It also reflects and respects a tight current fiscal environment.
Notably the Treasury Board has also approved the renewal of the allowance paid to members working in Fort McMurray. This allowance will continue to assist members who are facing the high cost of living in this community.”
