A Developing Partnership with Building Futures

On February 10, 2026, several of the Executive of the Nova Scotia Division of the RCMP Veterans’ Association met for breakfast at the Building Futures facility at 61 Glendale Avenue in Lower Sackville. They were joined by some workers, staff and administrators of the facility to share in experiences and to learn of the Building Futures programs and focus. Most importantly, the occasion was to enable the RCMP VA to say THANK YOU for their participation in the preparation of the Christmas Cakes that were distributed in December around Nova Scotia to widows and widowers that had earlier been identified by the membership.

Following a delicious breakfast freshly prepared on site, the coordinator of the RCMP VA initiative, Steve Graham and Committee member Vic Gorman presented Building Futures with a donation towards their operating expenses and a colourful banner to be hung within the facility to indicate the partnership.

It is anticipated that this program will continue for December 2026 and all RCMP VA members are urged to help identify potential recipients of the Christmas Cakes. Contact your local Region Director or the NS Executive if you have a name and contact information to share.

In the future, the RCMP VA NS Division will be taking advantage of some other services offered through Building Futures – from their catering service to their print shop and other initiatives. The services are available for anyone to access – for home uses and private functions to catering for clubs and businesses.
