Gene Healey joined the RCMP in May 1968 and trained as a member of Troop 8-68/69 at the recruit training academy at Depot Division, Regina, SK. Following his graduation, he was posted to Nova Scotia. He took his discharge in circa 1970 and returned to his native Newfoundland and Labrador. He subsequently served with the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation rising to the level of Director of Enforcement; a post he held from the 1990s to the mid-2010s.
