Elzo Bekkering joined the RCMP on May 7, 1973. He trained as a member of Troop 4, 1973/74 at Depot Division, Regina. 1973 marked the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Force. Queen Elizabeth II visited Depot and reviewed the troops during the time Elzo was training there. Following graduation from Depot, Elzo was posted to British Columbia and served at various locations including Kamloops, Trail and Langley, B.C. He took his discharge on January 23, 1982.
