Roy Steckel joined the RCMP in 1961. Following recruit training he was posted to southwestern Ontario. He served in various locations including at the Toronto (Pearson) International Airport Detachment and “O” Division HQ as the Crime Prevention / Police Community Relations Coordinator (1979). He also served as “O” DIvision’s Associate Editor, The Quarterly magazine during that time frame. He retired at the rank of Sergeant in circa 1999.
