The Office of the Veterans Ombudsman has recently called for nominations for the Veterans Ombudsman Commendations. The announcement is reprinted herebelow.
We’re proud that RCMP Veterans have been recognized and awarded commendations since the awards were first established in 2010.
Governor Tim Hoban, a Past President of New Brunswick Division, was recognized in 2014 for his work in support of troubled youths and Aboriginal Veterans, and homeless veterans.
In 2018, the RCMP Veterans’ Association Support & Advocacy Team (Nova Scotia Division) were recognized for developing strategies and providing active service to better support RCMP Veterans and serving personnel in pursuing pension entitlements and other benefits via Veterans Affairs Canada.
Please consider the work done by your colleagues within the Association, or others who you know who are providing support to the Veteran community.
Recognizing the generous work of those contributing today ensures they know their efforts are known and appreciated, and this also encourages others to follow in their example, offering support to those in need.
February 6, 2019 – Ottawa – Office of the Veterans Ombudsman
The Veterans Ombudsman Commendation was created in 2010 to recognize the outstanding contributions of countless individuals and groups across Canada who work tirelessly on behalf of Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and their families. Nominations are now open for the 2019 Commendation.
Starting today, the Office of the Veterans Ombudsman is accepting nominations of individuals, organizations or groups that deserve recognition for their selflessness, hard work and dedication to Veterans and their families. Nominations can be made in any of these four categories:
National organization or group – to recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an organization or group with a national scope that have resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact on the well-being of Veterans and their families;
Local organization or group – to recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an organization or group that have resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact, at the local or regional level, on the well-being of Veterans and their families;
Individual – to recognize the exceptional work and significant contribution of an individual that have resulted in a long-lasting and positive impact on the well-being of Veterans and their families at the national or local level; and
Lifetime Contribution – to recognize the life-long dedication, exceptional work, and significant contribution an individual has made in supporting or advocating for Veterans and their families.
“There are many organizations and individuals doing great things for Veterans within our communities. This is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and shine light on their contributions. If you know someone who’s making a difference in the lives of Veterans, take the time to nominate them so we can share their story and give them the recognition they deserve.” – Craig Dalton, Veterans Ombudsman
Nominations must include a completed nomination form and a summary of why the nominee is deserving of the Veterans Ombudsman’s Commendation. Consult the nomination guidelines for more details and learn about past recipients on the OVO website. The deadline for submission of nominations is March 31st, 2019.
