Garry Sigurdson joined the RCMP on November 24, 1965. Following recruit training, he was posted to Alberta, serving at multiple locations including Vegreville in the late 1960s. He was eventually transferred into the Security Service. He transitioned into the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and retired from CSIS while serving in Alberta on March 1, 2002.
