Peter Gazey joined the RCMP in 1949. He served the majority of his service within forensic services at the RCMP Crime Detection Labs in Sackville, New Brunswick and at HQ Ottawa where he was the Officer in Charge. He was a competitive marksman and competed for several years as a member of the RCMP team participating at the annual Bisley competition under the auspices of the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association (DCRA). He retired as Assistant Commissioner on May 31, 1987.
