Annual Vigil & RCMP 153rd anniversary Commemorative Ceremony – 11:00 hrs Saturday, May 23, 2026 –

Everyone is welcome to this annual historic event

The RCMP Veterans’ Association, Ottawa Division, invites you and all families to attend the memorial service which will be held at the

RCMP National Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood
280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa

The memorial service will be preceded by a Vigil Guard at the RCMP Fallen Member Cenotaph. For those wishing to participate in the service and be on parade (10:30 hrs), we would encourage the wearing of the RCMP uniform (Red Serge), business attire or Veterans’ kit of blue blazer, large medals, grey trousers, wedge cap and regimental or tartan tie. For anyone wishing to participate on parade, you are asked to please contact Marc Dureau, CD at Ottawa.sgtatarms@rcmpva.org by May 17, 2026.

This year, immediately following the memorial service, attendees are invited to join with us on a pathway near the Main Monument where we plan to unveil a number of commemorative plaques including a series of uniform and tradition plaques celebrating on these historical grounds, the 20-year collaboration and partnership of RCMP veterans, the Beechwood Cemetery Foundation and the RCMP. A very special commemoration will also take place at this time to honour the decades-long career contributions of veteran Staff Sergeant Garth Hampson, the true “Voice of the Mounted Police”.

We would be pleased if attendees might consider staying after the memorial service and attending the unveiling of these commemorative plaques.
