You, your families, colleagues and friends are invited to the annual Canadian Police & Peace Officer Memorial Service at the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood on Saturday, September 20, 2025 (11:00 hrs).
Our memorial is held on this date so as not to conflict with the RCMP memorial held in Regina on September 14 nor the National memorial service at Parliament Hill on September 28. This event at Beechwood will hopefully accommodate all those who are interested in paying tribute to our fallen but may be unable to attend either of those memorial services. Veterans and RCMP employees who wish to be on parade that morning are encouraged to arrive by 10:30 hrs and fall in under the command of the Ottawa Division Sgt-at-Arms on the S/M AHL Richardson VC Parade Square.
The memorial will include an indigenous welcome to the land, our Canadian and Royal anthems, prayers, playing of the Last Post, Moment of Silence, the Lament and Rouse, followed by the laying of wreaths at the RCMP Fallen Member Cenotaph and Honour Roll. Participants on parade should consider the order of dress to include uniform, civilian business or the veterans kit of blue blazer with regimental or tartan tie, grey slacks, wedge cap, large medals & commendations – no pins or nametags.
Immediately following the memorial service, we will hold a short ceremony at the new RCMP Veterans’ Legacy Pathway where we will raise the RCMP Veterans’ Ensign flag for the first time on the Pathway, as well unveil a number of the Commissioner series of commemorative plaques. Plaques honouring Commissioner French (NWMP), Commissioner Perry (RNWMP) and Commissioner MacBrien (RCMP) will join the plaque previously dedicated to Commissioner Maurice Nadon installed at the Main Monument.
