Welcome to the Ottawa Division, RCMP Veterans’ Association. On behalf of all members of Ottawa Division, we would like to extend to you a warm welcome to our website and invite you to browse its pages to gain more information on what Ottawa Division can offer to those that choose to be part of our extended family. As a former RCMP employee, you are welcome to join and participate in our various activities, some of which are highlighted below.
The following information, which highlights some of our activities and contact information, is provided for your assistance.
Who we are
Our Association is a network of former RCMP employees, members, public service employees, etc., who are dedicated to retaining our strong ties forged in the Force, investing in each other to maintain and expanding a coordinated network of mutual support for today, tomorrow, and always.
What we do
Our primary role is to provide a network of support for one another. This aligns with our Mission “To be responsive to the physical, psychological, social and economic welfare of all former employees of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families.”
Transitioning together
As we move to our new life after the RCMP, there are always questions you have or information you need. In participating as a member in the Association, you can be provided with as little or as much support as needed for you and your family.
Advocacy Program
The RCMP Veterans’ Association’s advocacy program is designed to recognize, protect, promote, and generally champion the rights of its members as it relates to issues of pension, insurance and health care. More information on the program can be found at the RCMP Veterans’ Association webpage or by contacting our Ottawa Division Director of Member Services.
“The Spirit”
“The Spirit” is a quarterly magazine produced by members of Ottawa Division RCMP Veterans’ Association for the information for its members. The focus is on sharing Veterans’ experiences, projects, initiatives, and goals. The emphasis is on the energy and opportunities that come with retiring from the RCMP and, as all members did during their active service, contributing to the community and supporting each other. Current and past issues of “The Spirit” are located on our website.
Regular General Meetings (RGM’s)
These meetings are a great opportunity to stay in touch with old associates and meet new colleagues. From September to June, the meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm and are held at the General Mess in the RCMP National Headquarters Building, located at 73 Leikin Drive, Ottawa, Ontario. Seeing that Ottawa Division has a large geographic footprint, we are also exploring holding meetings in other areas of the greater Ottawa area if the local membership assists with the planning of such events. Please continue to monitor weekly email bulletins as times, dates and locations may change.
Our Association
Volunteers are always welcome, and any amount of commitment is helpful. Would you consider a couple of hours a month, one hour a week, etc.? What are your skills and interests to join the talented team of volunteers: communications, events, recruiting, administration, etc.? Tell us what you would like to do. Our goal is to ensure that all volunteers enjoy what they do with opportunities currently existing in areas such as communications, web design and maintenance and event coordination.
Recruitment
If you know of former regular or civilian members, or public service employees, who are not yet members of the Association, tell them about us. It is all about friendship, support and staying connected! Family members are also welcomed to join as Associate Members.
Regular Communications
If you have provided your email address, it has been added to our distribution list to receive our regular electronic information bulletins on upcoming events such as reminders of meetings, “The Spirit” and all relevant information to our membership. This allows you to receive the information in a timely manner and helps us to reduce mailing costs. If you have not received any such communications since joining, please send an email advising us at ottawa.info@rcmpva.org. If you do not have an email address, then please advise us accordingly.
