About PEI Division

The PEI Division is much about family. The members of the division not only care for their own, but stay in tune with the events and circumstances of others, those who have served in the Force, but are not members of the Veterans’ Association, as well as those who still serve. Members propose initiatives and action to support the broader RCMP family regardless of their membership status. Of particular note, the widowed spouses and partners of former members are considered as ”Associate Members“ and are included by invitation to events. Members of the Veterans’ Association are by their nature tremendous volunteers. They are active and supportive to numerous Community Organizations (e.g.: Rotary, Lions Club, Shriners); numerous Church Organizations (e.g.: Knights of Columbus, the Lay Ministry, and so on). When and as requested, the Association considers financial contributions and requests to support through participation various charities (e.g.: Heart and Stroke Foundation, Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society, and so on). Additionally, many Veterans are actively involved in the federal, provincial and municipal political landscapes through direct representation of party support.

Tradition and heritage events

  • The PEI Division meets regularly for business meetings five times a year to discuss the affairs of the PEI Division in relation to the association. The three County Directors arrange one event per year in their county. These gatherings may be a sporting event, or a luncheon, sometimes with Guest Speakers.
  • Two seasonal events of a more social nature, are the Lobster/Steak Feast, and the Christmas Celebration Dinner.
  • The Chaplaincy program provides members requesting same, personal support in times of crises. Veterans who are ill and lack mobility may be recipients of Christmas cakes as a reminder the PEI Division has not forgotten them.
  • The PEI Division considers the contribution of all its members and awards the William Edward ”Ted“ Whelan Memorial Award to those so deserving.
