Foundation FAQ’s
What does the term RCMPVA mean?
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Veterans Association.
The Association has numerous locations (i.e. chapters) across Canada. Each geographic location is called a “Division”. If a Province only has one association group that location is identified by its RCMP Division (i.e. Nova Scotia Division or Manitoba Division)
If a Province has association members meeting in more than one geographic location, then that geographic location is called a Division. (i.e. Central Vancouver Island Division, Vancouver Division in British Columbia. Ottawa Division and Kingston Region Division in Ontario)
When reference is made to a Foundation application potentially being referred to an advocate in his or her home Division the closest geographic association location is being referred to. (i.e. an applicant living in Lac La Biche Alberta would have their application forwarded to Edmonton Division if the application required further follow-up).

Can a potential application and its contents be shared with others outside of the Foundation?
Submitted applications and the data contained therein are treated with the upmost respect and confidentiality.
As with most financial applications, there is a requirement for appropriate due diligence processes to be followed to ensure that applications are first sincere and secondly meet the Foundation’s guidelines for funding to be granted. This may require that more information or the circumstances articulated in the application require more information or verification. This may result in an application being forwarded to the applicant’s home RCMPVA Division advocate for further review or verification. Division advocates are selected and trained to conduct and respond to such requests. Application details are not shared otherwise.
In some cases, applicant(s) upon consultation may be referred by a RCMPVA Division advocate to other supports that may be available depending on circumstances and location. The type of supports available to RCMP Veterans from Federal, Provincial and other organizations are constantly changing based on location and funding allotments. Local Division advocates are the people most up to date on what is available within their geographic area.
ALL applications must include a cover letter/e-mail or similar document advising of the specific situation currently being faced and exactly what relief is being sought from the Foundation and if ongoing support outside of a one-time award is being sought.
