“E” Division Memorial Wall

Members of the RCMP in “E” Division established a Society with a mandate to raise funds and build a Memorial to peace officers from “E” Division fallen in the line of duty. This Society was recognized as a charity by Canada Revenue Agency and eventually raised sufficient funds to construct the Memorial Wall at “E” Division HQ in Surrey, B.C. The wall represents a Maple tree with each bronze leaf dedicated to the memory of a member of “E” Division who was killed on duty.

With the successful conclusion of the erection of the wall, the Society dissolved, and in compliance with CRA guidelines regarding dissolution of a charity, transferred it assets to another charity: the RCMP Veterans’ Association Foundation, which has, as one of its approved charitable purposes, the erection and maintenance of memorial structures. The RCMPVA Foundation mandate now encompasses the responsibility for the maintenance and continuance of the Wall transferred from the Society, along with the funds remaining in the original fund.

Although there is no desire to add to this wall, the RCMP Veterans’ Association Foundation has, unfortunately, undertaken this task in recent years and continues to hold a reserve to ensure the perpetuation of this memorial.
